About Dog of Flanders
Dog of Flanders follows Nello, a poor boy in rural Flanders who rescues the dog Patrasche and dreams of becoming a painter like Rubens. Early episodes cover milk delivery runs, hard village labor, friendship with Alois and harsh treatment by her father and neighbors. The middle stretch follows drawing contests, lost work and kindness from the grandfather that keeps hope alive.
The final stretch carries Nello and Patrasche through winter hardship toward the Antwerp cathedral and its famous altar paintings.
