About Eureka Seven
Renton Thurston runs away with the Gekkostate crew and falls for the distant pilot Eureka while the planet itself wakes up around them. Bones told that story in 50 episodes from April 2005 to April 2006, and that run still anchors everything else.
Release order works best: the series, then the 2009 alternate-universe film, then the AO sequel from 2012, then the three Hi-Evolution films from 2017 to 2021. AO and Hi-Evolution each take the setting in a different direction, so expect separate continuities rather than one straight plot.
Good to know
The 2009 film Pocket Full of Rainbows (April 25 2009) reuses the cast in an alternate world and treats the series events as a parallel world. AO ran 24 episodes from April to November 2012 with the Jungfrau OVA and the five-part New Order ONA finale (January to March 2017) attached; it follows episode 50, not the non-canonical episode 51 alternate ending aired in 2012. Hi-Evolution 1 (September 16 2017) covers the First Summer of Love and retells the Charles and Ray arc, Anemone (November 10 2018) shifts focus to Anemone in an altered timeline, and Eureka (November 26 2021) closes the trilogy after delays from 2019. The three Hi-Evolution Zero shorts from January 2020 are an optional prelude. No new Eureka anime had been announced as of September 2026.
