About Godmars
Rokushin Gattai Godmars ran 64 episodes from October 2, 1981 to December 24, 1982 on NTV with Takeru refusing to detonate Gaia for Emperor Zule. TMS animated it from Mitsuteru Yokoyama's Mars setup, winning the 1982 Animage Grand Prix. The 95 minute film from December 18, 1982 recaps the first 25 episodes.
Rokushin Gattai Godmars: Juunana-sai no Densetsu OVA from 1988 tells a side story in the same world. No new Godmars anime has been made since. The 2002 Shinseikiden Mars TV run is a separate faithful manga take and sits outside this list.
Good to know
Series first is the rule here, since the film covers only the opening quarter. The OVA assumes you know Takeru, Marg and the six robots, so save it for last. Shinseikiden Mars from 2002 adapts the same manga differently and can be watched alone after. With 64 episodes, many fans sample the film, then commit to the series if they like the combination gimmick.
