About Gushing Over Magical Girls
Gushing Over Magical Girls adapts Akihiro Ononaka manga about Utena Hiiragi, who wants to join magical girls but transforms into villain Magia Baiser. Season 1 aired January to March 2024 for 13 episodes from Asahi Production, with Tres Magia as the foils and the Lord squad arriving late. HIDIVE streamed the run with its sadist comedy intact.
A second season was greenlit October 5, 2024 at a Chiba fan event, with a teaser but no premiere date yet. The manga continues beyond the anime, so season 2 has source ready whenever Asahi sets a slot.
Good to know
Release order is story order, with Utena power growth and Tres Magia backstories building straight through. Season 1 ends without closing the Enormita plan, so expect season 2 to pick up directly. The show is TV-MA for its fetish comedy, which stays central rather than fading after episode 1 opens fully.
