About H2
H2 adapts Mitsuru Adachi's Weekly Shonen Sunday manga about pitcher Hiro giving up baseball after injury then returning with Hideo and Hikari. The Ashi Productions anime ran 41 episodes from June 1, 1995 to March 21, 1996 on ABC and TV Asahi. The TBS drama H2: Kimi to Ita Hibi ran 11 episodes from January 13 to March 30, 2005 with Takayuki Yamada.
The manga ran July 1992 to November 1999 in 34 volumes. No new anime has been made. The drama condenses the same rival school climb with new actors and a modern look.
Good to know
Anime first is the recommended path, since 41 episodes cover the injury, soccer detour and return in full. The 2005 drama hits the same beats in 11 hours and changes some matches, so it works as a quick revisit rather than a replacement. There are no films or OVAs to slot in. With the manga finished in 1999, the 2005 drama remains the last screen version.
