About Aim for the Ace
Aim for the Ace adapts Sumika Yamamoto's Margaret manga about Hiromi Oka joining Nishi tennis under Coach Munakata. The first series ran 26 episodes from October 5, 1973 to March 29, 1974 on MBS. Shin Ace wo Nerae ran 25 episodes from October 14, 1978 to March 31, 1979 on NTV. The 88 minute film arrived September 8, 1979.
Ace wo Nerae 2 OVA ran 13 episodes across 1988, and Final Stage ran 12 episodes from 1989 to 1990 to close the manga. TV Asahi's live drama ran 9 episodes plus a special in 2004. The manga ran January 1973 to February 1980 in 18 volumes.
Good to know
Release order matches Hiromi's growth from beginner to contender, so keep it. The 1979 film condenses the first series with new animation and can be skipped if you watch the 26 episodes. The two OVAs are the actual ending, which is why they sit after both TV runs despite the gap. The 2004 drama retells the start and works as an optional live extra after the anime.
