About Hakumei and Mikochi
Hakumei and Mikochi follows two tiny nine centimetre women sharing a tree house in the forest region of Makinata. Hakumei is a handy repair worker who rides beetles and takes day jobs, while Mikochi cooks, sews and stocks the pantry for market days. Early episodes cover house repairs, market stalls, owl flights, song performances and meetings with weasels, moles and fellow makers.
The middle stretch moves through the summer festival, the hot spring trip, song nights and craft commissions that show how the forest economy works. The closing run turns to autumn stock and winter prep, ending on a haircut promise that sums up their bond. Studio Lerche aired twelve episodes in winter 2018 directed by Masaomi Ando from Takuto Kashiki's manga. Watch episodes 1 through 12 in order.
Good to know
Watch episodes 1 through 12 in broadcast order. The stories are gentle and mostly standalone, but market goods, house repairs and seasonal jobs carry over, so sequence keeps the forest calendar clear. The Takuto Kashiki manga continues past the anime with more crafts and neighbours. No second season has aired, so the twelve stand as the full anime. Each episode pairs two short tales, which makes it easy to pace across a few nights.
