About Haruhi Suzumiya
Haruhi Suzumiya follows Kyon as Haruhi drafts him into the SOS Brigade with Yuki, Mikuru and Itsuki chasing gods and aliens. The 2006 run aired 14 episodes out of order for mystery effect. The 2009 run adds 14 new episodes including Endless Eight, and the Disappearance film from 2010 closes the arc at nearly three hours.
Watch in release order first: 2006, then 2009, then Disappearance. Broadcast order preserves the mystery the staff intended, while chronological order suits a rewatch once you know the time loops. The Nagato spinoff from 2015 sits in an alternate world and is optional.
Good to know
Chronological order fixes the 2006 jumps but spoils the Kyon reveals that broadcast order hides on purpose. Endless Eight repeats one loop eight times by design, which tests patience but pays off in Disappearance. With no new anime announced, the two runs plus film close the animated set. Kyoto Animation produced both TV runs and the film.
