About Mamotte Shugogetten
The TV series from October 1998 runs 22 episodes from Toei, as Tasuke frees moon goddess Shaorin from a ring and gains a second goddess by accident. Comedy comes from divine protection causing more trouble than it stops. The run adapts Sakurano's manga through spring 1999.
The Denshin OVA from 2000 continues across eight episodes into 2001, deepening Shaorin and Tasuke past the TV close. New goddess Shao appears only here. Watch the TV run first, since the OVA assumes the household and the ring rules.
Good to know
Release order is the story order, with the OVA continuing the TV household. Start with the 22 TV episodes for the setup. The eight OVA parts run longer each and lean romantic. Manga readers get extra arcs beyond both, with Retrouvailles continuing the story in print. The OVA leans romantic while the TV run stays comic.
