About Maple Town
Maple Town follows Patty Rabbit and Bobby Bear in a utopian animal town from Toei. The 1986 original ran 52 episodes from January 1986 with a 30 minute film that July. Palm Town ran 50 episodes from January 1987 as Patty relocates to her aunt's seaside town, with a second film that March.
Junichi Sato directed the original with gentle moral lessons per episode. Only Patty carries across the move, so Palm Town works as a fresh start with one familiar face. The US dub covered the original run only.
Good to know
Watch Maple Town before Palm Town, since Patty's move closes the first run and opens the second directly. The two films are short extras inside their years for completists. Only Patty carries over with the same voice into the new seaside town. Both runs ended in 1987 with no sequel announced, so Palm Town is the endpoint.
