About Seikai
Seikai adapts Hiroyuki Morioka's space opera novels about Jinto, a human noble, and Lafiel, an Abh princess, as their bond grows through an interstellar war. Sunrise animated it for WOWOW, with Katsuhisa Hattori scoring the run. Crest of the Stars covers their first meeting in 13 episodes from January 1999.
Banner of the Stars continues in three parts: 13 episodes in 2000 with Lafiel commanding the Basroil, 10 episodes in 2001, and a 2 episode OVA in 2005 closing the third novel. A 2001 recap film edits the first Banner run. The novels continue past the anime, but the animated run is closed.
Good to know
Watch Crest, then Banner I, Banner II, then Banner III. Release order matches novel order and in story order, so there is no reason to reshuffle. The 2001 Special Edition is a recap of Banner I and can be skipped if you watch the series. New anime has not been announced, so the four entries form the complete animated set.
