An unnamed Kyoto University student relives his campus life across parallel possibilities, joining a different club each time yet always meeting Ozu, Akashi and the fortune-teller Higuchi. Madhouse and director Masaaki Yuasa adapted Tomihiko Morimi's novel into 11 episodes airing April to July 2010 on Fuji TV's Noitamina block.
Watch the 2010 series first, then the 2017 film The Night Is Short, Walk On Girl, a standalone story in the same universe, and finish with the six-episode sequel The Tatami Time Machine Blues (2022). Release order matches the intended viewing order.

Night Is Short, Walk On Girl (April 7, 2017) adapts Morimi's separate novel and shares characters and setting rather than continuing the plot. Time Machine Blues streamed as a six-episode ONA from September to October 2022, with a compilation film cut released September 30, 2022 that omits the ONA-original sixth episode.
