About Voltes V
Choudenji Machine Voltes V ran 40 episodes from June 4, 1977 to March 25, 1978 with five pilots combining against Boazanians. A compilation film recuts the TV arc. The show became a phenomenon in the Philippines where it was once banned.
Voltes V: Legacy aired 90 episodes in 2023 on GMA as a live-action adaptation with expanded subplots and new mecha shots. No second Legacy season has been dated. The anime remains the tight original with Tadao Nagahama's run. The volt-in stock footage rewards patience across all 40 episodes.
Good to know
Anime first keeps the volt-in sequence and brother reveals clear. The compilation film can be skipped if you watch all 40 episodes. Legacy assumes you know the five pilots and stretches their backstories, so it plays best after. With the anime finished in 1978 and Legacy in 2023, this is a two-version set with no shared cast.
