About Adventures from the Book of Virtues
Adventures from the Book of Virtues aired on PBS from 1996 to 2000 with Plato the bison telling virtue tales to Zach and Annie. Season 1 adapts courage and honesty fables with Greek myths and American legends in 1996 with bright animation.
Season 2 followed in 1998 with work and friendship tales plus longer myths, then Season 3 closed in 2000 with faith and perseverance stories for older kids. Each episode pairs a modern kid problem with two classic tales. Watch seasons 1 to 3 in order, since hosting wraparounds assume prior lessons. The run ended in 2000 with 39 episodes total as of 2026 for families.
Good to know
Watch Season 1 first for courage and honesty rules that later seasons quote back. Season 2 builds on work habits with longer myths, while Season 3 closes with heavier faith tales for older kids. Episodes stand alone by virtue, but release order keeps Plato hosting growth clear. The PBS run closed in 2000 with no revival, so these three seasons form the complete set.
