About Captain Planet
Captain Planet follows five Planeteers with earth, fire, wind, water and heart rings who summon Captain Planet against eco villains. Seasons 1 to 3 aired 1990 to 1992 from DIC on TBS and syndication, with Gaia voiced by Whoopi Goldberg. Seasons 4 to 6 aired 1993 to 1996 as New Adventures from Hanna Barbera, with Margot Kidder as Gaia and updated designs.
The run totals 113 episodes across six seasons, with season 1 and 2 at 26 each, then shorter later runs. A Netflix live action reboot from Leonardo DiCaprio Appian Way has been reported in development but has no date, so the cartoon remains the complete set.
Good to know
Broadcast order is story order, with villain introductions like Hoggish Greedly and Verminous Skumm carrying across seasons. The animation switch in season 4 changes looks but not continuity, so do not treat New Adventures as a reboot. The sixth season theme and Linka origin tweaks are the only breaks worth noting.
