About Captain Scarlet
Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons ran 32 episodes from September 29, 1967 to May 14, 1968 on ITV with indestructible Paul Metcalfe facing Mars Mysterons. Century 21 made it for ITC on a 1.5 million budget. Compilation films Captain Scarlet vs the Mysterons from 1980 and Revenge from Mars from 1981 re-edit TV episodes.
New Captain Scarlet ran 26 episodes from February 12 to November 26, 2005 on ITV as a CGI reboot with Wayne Forester voicing Scarlet. Gerry Anderson returned for the remake. No new series has been made since 2005.
Good to know
Original broadcast order is the guide for 1967, since Spectrum assignments build slightly. The 1980 and 1981 compilations are optional recaps that can be skipped if you watch all 32. New Captain Scarlet restarts the war in 2068 and works alone after. With both runs finished, this is a closed two-version set with no crossover viewing needed.
