About Care Bears
Care Bears began as greeting-card characters before Nelvana's 1985 series ran three seasons with the Cousins joining. The 2007 Adventures in Care-a-Lot rebooted in CGI for 26 episodes, and the Hub's Welcome to Care-a-Lot ran 26 episodes in 2012 with a new look. The 2019 series launched on Boomerang and Cartoonito with the Bears guarding the Silver Lining.
Three theatrical films from the 1980s sit with the Nelvana era, while later specials attach to their own series. Each incarnation retells the caring mission from scratch with no shared timeline, which keeps every run self-contained for its audience.
Good to know
Start with whichever era matches the viewer: the 1985 run for classic history, Welcome to Care-a-Lot for 2010s kids, or the 2019 run as the current version. The 1980s films fit inside the Nelvana run only and spoil nothing elsewhere. Later series reuse names like Tenderheart and Funshine with new voices, so treat each as its own Care-a-Lot.
