About Cartoon Saloon
Cartoon Saloon works from Kilkenny on hand drawn folklore and family tales. The run opens with The Secret of Kells (2009) on Vikings and the Book, then Song of the Sea (2014) on selkies. The Breadwinner (2017) shifts to Afghanistan, Wolfwalkers (2020) returns to Kilkenny wolves, and My Father's Dragon (2022) closes on Netflix from November 11, 2022.
Kells, Song and Wolfwalkers form a loose Irish trilogy in theme only, with no shared cast. Tomm Moore and Nora Twomey direct across the set with Apple and Netflix backing later titles. A new feature Kindred Spirits is listed for 2028. Watch in release order to see the line work sharpen film to film.
Good to know
There is no plot order to build, since no character returns. Release order shows the studio move from flat pattern to deep forest layers best. Wolfwalkers lands harder after Kells and Song, since it finishes the folklore shape. Puffin Rock and TV shorts sit outside the features and can wait. Treat the 2022 film as latest released, not final.
