About gen:LOCK
gen:LOCK is Gray Haddock mecha series where pilot Julian Chase, voiced by Michael B Jordan, uploads his mind into a giant Holon body to fight the authoritarian Union for the Polity. Season 1 premiered January 26 2019 on Rooster Teeth with 8 episodes through March 9 2019, built around Chase, Miranda, Cammie, Kazu, Val and Dr Weller.
Season 2 moved to HBO Max and premiered November 4 2021 with 8 episodes through December 23 2021, with a darker Vanguard story and the Twilight threat. No third season was ordered and Rooster Teeth closed in 2024, so the 16 episodes are the complete story.
Good to know
Watch season 1 then season 2, there is no film or spin-off to place between them. Season 2 assumes you remember the gen:LOCK compatibility rules and the Union Holon army from season 1. The ending resolves the New York fight but leaves the wider Polity Union war open, which is simply where the cancelled series stops.
