About Max Steel
Max Steel started in 2000 with three seasons and 35 episodes on Kids WB and Cartoon Network, following Josh McGrath as an action hero. Eight direct to video films continued that version from Endangered Species in 2004 to Makino Revenge in 2011.
The 2013 reboot on Disney XD ran two seasons and 52 episodes with a new Max and Steel, plus seven Turbo films from 2015 to 2017. A live action film released October 2016 and flopped at 6 million dollars. The toy line ended in 2022 and nothing new has been announced since 2017.
Good to know
The 2000 series and the 2013 series are separate continuities with different leads and villains, so do not look for links between them. Watch each era from its own start. The 2016 live action film adapts the reboot loosely and works as a standalone. All animation ended in 2017 and the franchise is dormant as of September 2026.
