About Metalocalypse
Metalocalypse follows Dethklok's dumbest-metal stardom across four seasons from 2006 on Adult Swim, with the Tribunal and Revengencers plotting around them. Seasons 1 and 2 run eleven-minute brutality, season 3 goes half-hour story, and season 4 ends on a revival cliffhanger.
The Doomstar Requiem opera special from 2013 answers that cliffhanger, and Army of the Doomstar from 2023 closes the saga as an 83-minute finale film. This is the rare Adult Swim serial that must be watched in order. Nothing further exists after the film's payoff.
Good to know
Strict release order is required across sixty-one episodes into the special and film. The planned fifth season was rejected, so the 2021 greenlit film became the true ending instead. Dethalbum IV shipped with the film. No continuation is announced after Army of the Doomstar. Start with season 1, since the prophecy and betrayal arcs run straight through.
