About Moomin
Moomin adapts Tove Janssons books about Moomintroll, Moominmamma, Snufkin and Little My. The 1969 series ran 65 episodes, then New Moomin in 1972. The stop motion Moomins ran from 1977 to 1982 in Austria and Poland.
Tanoshii Moomin Ikka aired 78 episodes in 1990 to 1991 plus 26 more as Adventure Diary, with Comet in Moominland as a 1992 film. Moominvalley started in 2019 with three seasons and a 2022 Christmas film. Watch in release order, since each version restages the valley with its own gentle designs.
Good to know
These versions retell rather than continue, so release order beats story order. The books came first from 1945 to 1970, and any version assumes that tone. Tanoshii Moomin Ikka is the longest TV run and the usual start. Moominvalley is the latest animation, with no next season dated as of October 2026.
