About Playdays

Playdays followed Play School as BBC daily strip with a different Stop each weekday. Mondays held Why Bird Stop with the Lost Property Office, Tuesdays held Playground Stop with dressing chest, Wednesdays held Dot then Roundabout Stop with Rosie carousel, Thursdays held Patch Stop with Peggy Patch, Fridays held Tent then Poppy Stop. The show was named Playbus to December 1989.

Nine series ran 1174 episodes with presenters Dave Benson Phillips, Zoe Ball and Chris Jarvis plus puppets Why Bird, Chester and Lizzie. Christmas Tree specials ran 1989 to 1991. Winter Adventure 40 minute special arrived November 1997 with Mr Jolly and Poppy at a cottage. Repeats ran to 2004 with tours carrying Peggy live.

Good to know

Watch series 1 to 9 in TX order, then Winter Adventure. Start with the 1988 Playbus launch, continue through the 1992 Roundabout switch and the 1995 Poppy house switch, then finish the 1997 run. Weekday Stops can be sampled alone, but keep series order for presenter and song changes. The 1174 count is canonical against partial IMDb listings.
