About Silly Symphonies

Silly Symphonies ran 75 shorts from August 22, 1929 to April 14, 1939 as Disney's music series beside Mickey Mouse. The Skeleton Dance from 1929 opens with Ub Iwerks bones gags. Flowers and Trees from 1932 brought Technicolor. Three Little Pigs from 1933 and The Tortoise and the Hare from 1935 anchor the middle.

The Band Concert era overlaps, but Symphonies stay separate from Mickey, Donald and Pluto runs. The Ugly Duckling remake from 1939 closes the series. No new Symphonies have been made. Disney groups them by year on disc, which this follows.

Good to know

There is no story order here, so era blocks are the guide. Early black and white Dance and Hell's Bells play differently from color Pigs and Moth and Flame. Watch any short alone, but keep years together to feel Technicolor arrive. With 75 shorts, do not list each as an item. Use compilations or year sets once started.
