About Tales from the Cryptkeeper
Tales from the Cryptkeeper adapts the HBO horror show for kids animation. Thirteen episodes aired on ABC in 1993 with the Cryptkeeper hosting. Season two added nine more in 1994. Season three moved to CBS in 1999 as New Tales with 13 more and a new look.
Nelvana animated the run with John Kassir voicing the host. The stories stand alone, but the host bits and scare level change by season. Release order keeps the HBO to ABC to CBS path clear for new viewers tracking the tone shifts across years.
Good to know
Watch seasons 1 through 3 in order. The tales reset, so strict continuity is light, yet the host jokes assume the run. The live action Tales from the Crypt sits separate and is not needed here. The 1999 season looks different, so expect a visual jump in the final stretch of the whole series run today.
