About Thundarr the Barbarian
Thundarr the Barbarian aired Saturday mornings on ABC about a barbarian, the Mok Ookla, and sorceress Ariel crossing a ruined Earth in the year 3994. Season 1 ran 13 episodes from October to December 1980, built around wizard warlords and old world ruins.
Season 2 ran 8 episodes from September to October 1981. ABC cancelled it despite fair ratings to make room for live action slots, with reruns later on NBC in 1983 and Cartoon Network in the 1990s. No revival has filmed, though comics homages continue.
Good to know
Watch season 1, then season 2. Episodes stand alone outside the pilot, so the order rule is light, but the pilot sets the Sunsword and bond that later episodes assume. The finale does not wrap the world, since cancellation cut the run at 21. Any two episodes show the formula, the full run shows the range.
