About Blackstar
Blackstar follows astronaut John Blackstar hurled through a black hole to the planet Sagar, where he leads rebels with the Star Sword against the Overlord. The Filmation series ran 13 episodes in one season from September to December 1981 with planet hopping sword and planet adventures.
Broadcast order is the guide because ally introductions and artifact quests build lightly across the run. Watch the 13 episodes straight through from The Beginning to Lightning City of the Clouds for the full rebellion arc. The show stays episodic with self contained rescues, so order matters for first meetings more than for strict plot continuity.
Good to know
All 13 episodes run about 22 minutes each, so the whole series fits a single weekend with room to spare. Early episodes establish Mara, Klone and the Star Sword halves, while later entries expand Sagar cities and creatures. Filmation reuse gives it a distinct early eighties look that fans of He-Man will recognize. No second season beyond 1981 was ever produced.
