About Ao Oni

Ao Oni first released in 2004 from noprops on RPG Maker XP about Hiroshi and friends trapped in a mansion with a blue demon. Four versions ran to a final 2011 build with different maps and puzzles, and playthroughs pushed it past 50 million views by 2013.

The series grew with sequels and spinoffs plus novels, manga, three films and the 2016 to 2017 Ao Oni: The Animation. A first person 3D reboot and a July 26, 2024 Steam and Switch remaster with new modes kept it active, with a PS5 port dated July 3, 2026.

Good to know

Start with the 2024 remaster since it bundles the mansion tale with modern saves and speed modes. The original 2004 build and 2011 final differ in puzzles, so veterans replay both. Treat films and anime as extras after the games, since only the games share saves and puzzle logic. Plan extra time for finales, since later parts assume full knowledge of earlier twists.
