About Armored Core

Armored Core is FromSoftware's mech series running since 1997, built around taking mercenary jobs and spending the pay on your machine. Numbered entries reset the universe each generation, with expansions continuing each one, through to Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon in 2023.

Play in release order within whatever generation interests you, since generations do not connect. Newcomers should start with Armored Core VI: it is a standalone reboot, the most modern, and the easiest to buy. Veterans chasing history can run the full list below from the 1997 original onward.

Good to know

Each generation is its own continuity, so there is no single story order across the series, only release order. Nine Breaker is a training focused spin-off, and Formula Front is a strategy flavored side entry; both are skippable. No sequel to Fires of Rubicon has been announced, but the series is active, not retired.
