About Day of the Tentacle
Day of the Tentacle starts with the 1993 original as Bernard, Hoagie and Laverne chase Purple Tentacle through time toilets. The point and click puzzles span past, present and future mansions.
The Remastered Edition arrived in 2016 with redrawn art and the original pixels toggleable. Play the original or the remaster first, since there is only one story. The remaster replaces the original cleanly, so pick one version rather than both. Bernard, Hoagie and Laverne split the centuries. The time toilet gags never age.
Good to know
Play the 1993 original or the 2016 remaster, not both back to back. Double Fine handled the remaster with Schafer consulting. Maniac Mansion sits as the predecessor outside this list. No sequel had been announced as of October 2026. The time toilet gags never age. Start with either version. The Maniac Mansion roots show.
