About Echo Night

Echo Night from August 1998 on PlayStation traps Richard Osmond with train ghosts seeking a stone. Echo Night 2: Nemuri no Shihaisha from 1999 moves to a mansion with new spirits. Echo Night Beyond from 2004 on PS2 shifts to a lunar church with astronaut Richard hunting a red stone.

FromSoftware made all three as slow first-person adventures with no combat. Beyond stays in continuity as a moon branch rather than a reboot. No fourth entry has been made. The three form a closed ghost trilogy. Full trilogy.

Good to know

Release order is story order loosely, since each haunting stands alone. The stone idea returns in Beyond, which lands better after the first two. Expect no weapons and slow walking, which divides action fans. With FromSoftware moved to Souls, these remain finished curios from the pre-Miyazaki era. Go slow.
