About Dark Pictures
Dark Pictures began with Man of Medan in 2019 as a ghost ship choice tale. Little Hope from 2020 moved to witch trial ghosts, House of Ashes from 2021 to Iraq tunnels, and Devil in Me from 2022 closed season 1 with a killer hotel. Switchback VR from 2023 reuses season 1 worlds as a rail shooter, and Directive 8020 from May 2026 opens season 2 in space.
Play in release order. Each story resets its cast, so order is about seeing choice systems and co op improve. Switchback needs PSVR2 and is safe to skip, while Directive works as a fresh start for new players who want modern stealth and Turning Points.
Good to know
Season 1 ends with Devil in Me, which makes Directive a clean second start rather than a direct sequel. The anthology tag was dropped from Directive onward, but it still plays by the same choice rules. With no next entry dated, the six games form the current complete set to work through in sequence.
