About Europa Universalis
Europa Universalis spans 1444 to 1821 world conquest with diplomacy trade and war. Europa Universalis in 2000 sets seven year scenarios, II in 2001 widens eight centuries, III in 2007 adds national ideas and Divine Wind, and IV in 2013 defines mana estates and institutions with huge DLC.
Entries stand alone by bookmark with no story order to follow. New players often start with IV with expansions for tutorials and trade companies, or III Complete for older pace. Expansions belong with their base game rather than apart, since missions and faiths stack there with no prior save needed.
Good to know
Release order shows maps grow from Europe to world to institutions, but start with IV complete where possible. Europa Universalis III teaches idea groups best, IV runs widest with trade nodes, and early pair plays spare now. Campaigns never share crowns, so skip eras freely after one full run. Treat IV as latest rather than last with EU V talk pending.
