About Famicom Detective Club

Famicom Detective Club starts with The Missing Heir from 1988 and The Girl Who Stands Behind from 1989, adventure games about an Utsugi detective agency case. The 2021 Switch remakes retell both with new art and voice work.

Emio: The Smiling Man followed in 2024 as a new entry with Eisuke Sasaki. Play the two originals or their remakes first, then Emio. The remakes replace the originals cleanly, so pick one version of each rather than both. Nintendo and Mages handled the remakes, with Yoshio Sakamoto producing and Emio adding a new urban legend case.

Good to know

Play The Missing Heir before The Girl Who Stands Behind, in either original or 2021 remake form. The remakes keep the same cases with modern presentation, so there is no need to play both versions. Emio fits after, since it assumes the agency format is familiar. No further entry had been dated as of October 2026.
