About Advance Wars
Advance Wars is Nintendo's turn-based tactics series where CO powers break gridlock, starting with the 2001 Game Boy Advance original's Wars World campaign. Black Hole Rising from 2003 continues the same war with new COs and harder maps.
Dual Strike from 2005 adds dual-front battles to close the trilogy, while Days of Ruin from 2008 reboots into a darker standalone world. Re-Boot Camp from 2023 remakes the first two games with modern art and online play. Play 1, 2 and Dual Strike in order, then treat Ruin separately.
Good to know
The first two games plus Dual Strike share one continuity in release order, while Days of Ruin is a separate reboot universe with a new cast. Re-Boot Camp replaces the first two originals for new players with the same campaigns. The remake was delayed from 2022 over the Ukraine invasion before its April 2023 launch. No new Advance Wars is announced, so this five-entry list is complete.
