About Ghost of Tsushima
Ghost of Tsushima follows Jin Sakai abandoning samurai tradition to repel the 1274 Mongol invasion, with the Iki Island expansion adding a second island and a look at his father’s past. The Legends mode is a separate mythology multiplayer with no story link.
Ghost of Yotei jumps to 1603 Ezo with new lead Atsu hunting the Yotei Six, and needs no knowledge of Jin’s journey. Its free Legends DLC adds co-op tales in the same spirit. Play Tsushima first for the combat foundation, then Yotei. A film is announced with no date.
Good to know
Release order and story order match, since Yotei sits 329 years after Tsushima with a new cast. Legends modes in both games are non-canon co-op and can be played any time or skipped. The Director’s Cut is the version to buy, since it includes Iki Island and the modern ports. The announced film has no release date, and Yotei’s Legends arrived March 10, 2026.
