About Ghost of Tsushima
Ghost of Tsushima (2020) follows Jin Sakai's defense of Tsushima island, with the Iki Island expansion (2021) adding a later chapter and Legends (2020) offering a separate co-op mode. Ghost of Yotei (2025) is a standalone sequel set 300 years later with new hero Atsu. Release order is the play order below.
Newcomers should buy the Director's Cut, which bundles the base game, Iki Island and Legends access in one package. Yotei needs no knowledge of Jin's story, though Tsushima players will catch the design throughline.
Good to know
Sucker Punch and Sony describe Yotei as a standalone story rather than a direct sequel, so either game works as a first purchase. No further Ghost game has been announced as of Sept 2026. Legends began as a free add-on and later sold standalone; both lead back to the same co-op modes.
