Grim Fandango from 1998 follows Manny Calavera as a travel agent guiding souls across four years of the dead. Grim Fandango Remastered from January 2015 rebuilds the same trip with hi res art, relit scenes, orchestra score and commentary. Stories match exactly rather than continuing.
Play the Remastered cut if starting now, since it holds the full four year arc with modern controls. Veterans can revisit the 1998 original for history, but there is no new plot in the port. The game stands complete as a single classic with no sequel.

Do not treat Remastered as a sequel, since it replays the 1998 puzzles with extras included. Tank controls give way to point and click options in the new cut. With no follow up announced, the pair forms one story told twice rather than a series. Double Fine Productions led the 2015 remaster with original art and score restored.
