About Horizon
Horizon follows Aloy from Zero Dawn (2017) through Forbidden West (2022) and its Burning Shores expansion (2023). The Frozen Wilds (2017) slots into Zero Dawn's story, while Call of the Mountain (2023) is a PS VR2 side story and Lego Horizon Adventures (2024) is a non-canon retelling. Release order is the play order below.
Newcomers should start with Zero Dawn, ideally the Complete Edition or the 2024 Remastered version, then play Forbidden West with Burning Shores. Guerrilla announced the co-op spinoff Hunters Gathering in Feb 2026 with no release date, and Bloomberg reported in Aug 2026 that the next single-player entry is still years away.
Good to know
Edition names overlap: Forbidden West Complete Edition includes Burning Shores on PS5 and PC, but Burning Shores never came to PS4. Call of the Mountain needs PS VR2 hardware. Lego Horizon Adventures is canon-adjacent at most and safe to skip. The Horizon 3 timeline comes from anonymous sourcing and should be treated as approximate.
