About Katamari
Katamari Damacy started it in 2004 on PS2, followed by We Love Katamari, the PSP entry Me and My Katamari, Beautiful Katamari on Xbox 360, Katamari Forever on PS3 and Touch My Katamari on Vita. The two Reroll remakes slot where their originals sat, and Katamari Damacy Rolling Live arrived as an Apple Arcade entry in April 2025, with Once Upon a Katamari as the original console entry that October.
The Switch 2 version of Once Upon a Katamari landed on October 8, 2026 alongside the Rolling Live Highlights downloadable content, which brings the most recent entry to Nintendo hardware for the first time. The original 2004 game and its sequel still hold up, and the Reroll remakes are the versions most people play now.
There is no narrative to follow across any of it. The series is a set of scoring challenges with a rolling ball of junk, and the differences between entries are the settings and the small rule changes each one adds.
Good to know
Release order is the play order. The series has no branching continuity, so start with Katamari Damacy and work forward.
The Switch 2 port of Once Upon a Katamari with the Rolling Live Highlights content is the easiest way into the newest entry, and the highlights mode adds new material to an existing save.
The two Reroll remakes are worth playing in place of the originals if you can, since they fixed a lot of what the 2004 and 2005 games got wrong, but they slot in the same positions either way.
