About Mario Golf
Mario Golf is Camelot's three-click golf line running since the N64 original (1999): timing-based swings with Mario power and course hazards. Toadstool Tour (2003) perfected the console formula, Advance Tour (2004) added a handheld RPG story, and World Tour (2014) brought DLC seasons to 3DS.
Super Rush (2021) rebooted the line with simultaneous Speed Golf and motion controls. Release order shows the swing systems layering; the handheld RPG modes are fan-favorite side quests. Each game stands alone, so Super Rush or the N64 classic both work as starts. The GBC predecessor (Japan-only, 1999) is a historical footnote.
Good to know
Advance Tour's RPG story mode is beloved beyond its hardware and worth seeking out. Super Rush launched content-light and grew through free updates, so early reviews understate it. Toadstool Tour remains the mechanical peak for purists. The Japan-only Game Boy Color original predates the N64 game and is skippable. No new Mario Golf had been announced at the last check.
