Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX from 2001 opens on Tony Hawk engine rails with vert, dirt and street parks, built by Runecraft for Activision. Ten pros ride it with a park editor. Ports reached Dreamcast and PC.
Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX 2 from August 2002 follows on PS2, Xbox and GameCube with bigger parks, built by Rainbow Studios. No third game followed, leaving the pair as the full line. Play the 2001 original first, since the sequel assumes the trick set. Rainbow Studios builds the bigger sequel parks for veterans.

Release order is the skills order, with tricks carrying over. Start with the 2001 original for the Hawk engine basics. Part 2 runs on newer hardware with bigger parks. Both run split screen multi for versus sessions. Hoffman himself cameos in Hawk games beyond. Tony Hawk hides as a secret rider in the first.
