About Men of War
Men of War zooms from soldiers to direct-control WWII tactics, starting with the 2008 original's Allied campaigns. Red Tide from 2009 runs the best single-player through Soviet naval infantry.
Assault Squad from 2011 pivots to multiplayer skirmish with no story, while Vietnam, Condemned Heroes and Assault Squad 2 cover alternate fronts and remasters. Men of War II from 2024 returns to full Eastern and Western campaigns. No continuity runs between games, so play Red Tide for story or Assault Squad 2 for skirmish and mods.
Good to know
No story connects the games since each covers a standalone front, so release order is a suggestion rather than a requirement. Red Tide is the story peak and Assault Squad 2 the multiplayer peak with Workshop mods. The Arena spinoff shut its servers in 2021. Men of War II's patching stalled over publisher complications. Start with the original or Red Tide for campaigns.
