About Metro
Metro adapts Dmitry Glukhovsky's novels about Artyom surviving the Moscow tunnels. Metro 2033 (2010) from 4A Games covers the novel's station war. Last Light (2013) continues as an original sequel around the Dark Ones. Exodus (2019) leaves the tunnels for a cross-Russia train journey with the Sam's Story and Two Colonels DLC.
Metro Awakening (2024) from Vertigo Games serves as a VR prequel set before 2033 around Khan's backstory. 4A Games confirms the next mainline Metro is in development with no date, delayed partly by the war in Ukraine relocating the studio.
Good to know
Play the Redux versions of 2033 and Last Light, then Exodus with its DLC, since Redux fixes the originals' shooting and stealth. Exodus offers two endings around Artyom's fate, and the Two Colonels DLC sets up the next game directly. Awakening needs a VR headset and fits first chronologically, but play it after Exodus for the references to land.
