About Mirror's Edge
Mirror's Edge follows Faith Connors, a courier who runs across rooftops in a clean city that watches everyone. The 2008 original from DICE is a linear first person platformer built around momentum, wall runs and keeping speed through each chapter. Mirror's Edge Catalyst from 2016 is a reboot with an open world City of Glass, a new origin for Faith and no guns.
Catalyst retells the setup rather than continuing the first game, so the two do not connect as one story. Start with the 2008 game for the sharper campaign, then play Catalyst for the movement sandbox and side content.
Good to know
Release order is the same as story order here because Catalyst is a reboot, not a sequel, so there is no timeline to untangle. The 2008 game runs about six hours and still controls well on PC and backward compatible consoles. Catalyst adds an open world and time trials but drops the shooting entirely. No third game has been announced, so these two are the full set.
