About Jak and Daxter
Jak and Daxter starts with The Precursor Legacy in 2001, a bright collectathon about curing Daxter's ottsel form. Jak II in 2003 jumps darker with prison, guns and Haven City after a two-year gap, and Jak 3 in 2004 continues into the wasteland against the Dark Makers. Daxter from 2006 on PSP fills the two-year gap from Daxter's view but spoils Jak II, so play it after.
Jak X in 2005 spins the driving into combat racing after Jak 3, and Lost Frontier in 2009 closes the saga on PSP with eco powers expanded. Release order is story order with Daxter placed late despite its earlier setting. The Collection bundles the trilogy in HD, and no new game has been announced beyond re-releases.
Good to know
Play in release order with Daxter held until after Jak 3. Daxter's gap story assumes Jak II's twists known, which is why its earlier setting must not come first. Jak X works any time after Jak 3 as a racing spinoff, and Lost Frontier closes last despite its handheld scale. The cancelled Jak 4 never materialized beyond a mock case, so Lost Frontier stays the endpoint.
