About Monolith Productions

Monolith Productions was a Kirkland studio founded in October 1994 that built the LithTech engine and jumped between genres for two decades. The Operative: No One Lives Forever from 2000 and its 2002 sequel spoof sixties spy films with Cate Archer, while Tron 2.0 from 2003 and the short Contract J.A.C.K. spinoff from the same year filled the gaps. Warner Bros. bought the studio in 2004.

F.E.A.R. from 2005 mixed slow-mo gunfights with Alma Wade horror, and Condemned: Criminal Origins from 2005 plus its 2008 sequel went darker into first-person detective dread. Gotham City Impostors from 2012 tried multiplayer comedy before Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor from 2014 and Shadow of War from 2017 closed the run with the Nemesis system. Warner Bros. shut the studio in February 2025.

Good to know

These ten games sit in separate continuities, so release order and story order need no separate lists: play oldest to newest. Contract J.A.C.K. is a short NOLF spinoff and Tron 2.0 was developed by Monolith for Disney's Buena Vista label. Warner Bros. closed the studio in February 2025 and cancelled its Wonder Woman game, so the catalogue ends with Shadow of War from 2017.
