About Monster Hunter Stories
Monster Hunter Stories starts with the 2016 3DS game about a Kinship Stone rider and the Blighted monsters, remastered in 2024 for modern platforms. The story follows egg hatching and Monstie bonds rather than hunter quests.
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin followed in 2021 with Razewing Ratha and the pit threat. Play Stories first, then Wings of Ruin. The second game stands alone but reuses the bond systems, so the rider basics land faster in order. Capcom built both as turn based RPGs, a clear break from the main action series.
