About Obscure
Obscure from October 1, 2004 traps five Leafmore High students with light-based combat in co-op survival horror by Hydravision. It released on PS2, Xbox and PC, reaching North America April 6, 2005. Obscure II, sold as Obscure: The Aftermath in North America, arrived September 7, 2007 in Europe and March 25, 2008 in North America on PS2, PC, Wii and later PSP.
The sequel moves survivors Shannon and Kenny to Fallcreek University two years later with returning co-op. Final Exam from 2013 began as Obscure 3 but changed into a non-canon action spinoff after Hydravision closed. No true third entry exists.
Good to know
Release order is story order, so do not start with Aftermath. The first game's light mechanic returns expanded, which only makes sense after Leafmore. Final Exam shares the name but not the plot and stays out of the main list. With Hydravision closed and Mighty Rocket moved on, the 2008 PSP port remains the last canon release. Both games support co-op throughout.
