About Perfect Dark
Perfect Dark began with Rare in 2000 about agent Joanna Dark exposing dataDyne's alien pact with Carrington backing her. Perfect Dark Zero (2005) rewinds as a prequel around Joanna's father and the Hong Kong setup. The 2010 remaster rebuilt the original with online play and new textures.
The Initiative's reboot died with the studio's closure in 2025, leaving no new Perfect Dark dated as of 2026. The counter-op and combat-simulator modes run through both games with the same weapon sets intact throughout.
Good to know
Play the 2000 original via its 2010 remaster first, then Zero as the prequel, since the dataDyne reveal and the father thread assume that order. Zero divides fans with its third-person cover turn, so expect a format shift after the classic. The reboot's cancellation leaves the pair as the complete run for now.
