About Punch-Out
Punch-Out started February 1984 in arcades with Little Mac and Glass Joe, plus Super Punch-Out arcade that September. Game and Watch Boxing the same year and Arm Wrestling in 1985 spin off with the same team. Mike Tyson version hit NES in October 1987, reissued in 1990 with Mr Dream.
Super Punch-Out in October 1994 on SNES is not an arcade port. The Wii reboot in May 2009 from Next Level returns Mac with motion controls, plus Doc Louis WiiWare in October 2009 as a Club Nintendo prequel. No new game has been announced as of September 2026. Play arcade to NES to Super to Wii.
Good to know
Doc Louis from 2009 sits before the Wii game in story as training, so it is the lone prequel in an otherwise straight line. Release order keeps it last where it released as a bonus. The arcade and NES rosters overlap but each version adds fighters. The series is dormant since 2009 with no sequel dated.
